On May 8, 2025, white smoke appeared above the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, marking the conclusion of the papal conclave. That evening, the Church announced the election of Robert Prevost as Pope Leo XIV. This event symbolizes hope and continuity within the Catholic faith.
On this day, Robert Prevost became the first-ever Pope from North America; the first-ever Pope from the United States; AND the first-ever Pope from CHICAGO!
On this guided bus tour, discover the sites Pope Leo XIV, was born, lived, studied, served, taught, and so much more. Stories about Chicago's Catholic history will also be shared through this special experience. Supplementing this tour, guests will have access to a hidden web page that includes historical photos, articles, and more everyone can follow along from their own mobile devices.
