FroM Chicago’s South side to the Vatican: Celebrating Chicago’s very Own, Pope Leo XIV

On May 8, 2025, history was made when white smoke billowed from the Sistine Chapel and Robert Prevost was elected Pope Leo XIV. Not only did this mark the election of a new pope, but it also brought an unprecedented honor to Chicago, as one of its own became the first American-born pope in the history of the Catholic Church.

With his election, Pope Leo XIV became the first Pope from North America, the first Pope from the United States, and the first Pope from Chicago.

Join us for a unique guided bus tour exploring the Chicago roots of Pope Leo XIV. Visit the places where he was born, lived, studied, worshipped, served, and taught, while learning about the rich history of Catholicism in Chicago. Along the way, our expert guide will share fascinating stories and insights that bring this remarkable journey to life.

To enhance the experience, guests will have access to an exclusive mobile-friendly webpage featuring historical photographs, articles, and additional content that can be followed throughout the tour.
